The world is going through many heartbreaking event right now, from police brutality and racial injustice in the United States to the humanitarian crisis in Yemen, along with many other global issues. This sparked students' interest from all around the world, even creating a new organization called Youth for Humanity.
Youth for Humanity is a student-led organization that brings awareness and support to a number of prevalent issues around the globe. From humanitarian crises to social movements and human rights violations, the group brings youth together in an effort to resolve these problems. Youth for Humanity links students and youth to the resources they need in order to make an impact in the world.
Youth for Humanity was founded by Shifa Shaikh and Haania Ahmed, high school sophomores from Laurel, Maryland. Shifa first came up with the idea of starting a student-led organization to promote youth activism, and later asked Haania to help her manage this project. The current crises in the world led Shifa and Haania to open their eyes and see that it is important to get as many people involved in this time of progression as possible. Shifa and Haania started Youth for Humanity as a way to rally other students to take a stand and start playing their part in transforming society.
Although Youth for Humanity was created only weeks ago on July 17th, 2020, they have already done tremendous work such as recruiting others to join their team, creating campaigns, and even distributing service hours to those who make an impact through the organization. Youth for Humanity also established multiple partnerships with other organizations such as TURN Canada and The Juvenilia Magazine. Moreover, their social media has grown greatly, reaching over 1,000 followers on Instagram. As days go on, more and more people express their interest in the organization's initiative. They will soon find ways to raise money for important causes, possibly creating an online shop to sell merchandise such as stickers, stationary, and other items.
Youth for Humanity hopes to continue collaborating with other organizations in order to expand and promote their cause. Their main goal is to empower as many students as possible to start making the necessary changes in not only their own communities, but in the world. They also hope to have successful campaigns to support a variety of prevalent causes in the future as well.
