High school courses can be challenging, but starting a career in high school is even more challenging. Luckily, Tutor Olives offers tutoring to students not only in core academic subjects, but career-related areas as well.
Tutor Olive is a K-9 tutoring platform that provides free tutoring in core academics such as math, science, english, writing, history/social studies, Spanish and French. The organization also offers career-technical tutoring in subjects such as pre-medical studies. Tutor Olive consists of volunteers from around the world who are committed to tutoring students in return for service hours. The organization offers both tutors and tutees flexible schedules, with the ability to plan their own tutoring sessions as well as leave Tutor Olive whenever necessary.
Divya Arora, a rising sophomore in New Jersey, is the founder of Tutor Olive LLC. Divya runs the entire organization as she likes how she can be independent and not rely on anyone to complete the tasks she wants for Tutor Olive. On her own, Divya hires tutors, manages the social media pages, and even acts as customer service.
Divya was looking for tutoring opportunities before this summer begun. However, there were many well-known tutoring programs who were not hiring due to her age. After much research, Divya joined a tutoring platform that only provided tutoring in 2-3 subjects, but she wasn't satisfied just yet. Divya was inspired to make her own organization that offers tutoring, which is now called Tutor Olive. She provided tutoring in the basic core academics, but then came up with the idea to offer career-technical tutoring as well in order to give students the opportunity to explore themselves. This changed Tutor Olive's mission from providing more areas of tutoring to providing career technical tutoring in order allow students to explore their future.
Tutor Olive is a fairly new organization that is still developing; however, within the last month, they have reached over 500 followers on Instagram. Tutor Olive also established partners with more than 50 other organizations to spread awareness about their tutor platform.
In the future, Tutor Olive hopes to add more subjects, including career-technical programs, in which the tutors can teach their students. Tutor Olive is also transitioning to co-tutoring, where two tutors are focused on tutoring one student. This allows the student to have the opportunity to learn from different perspective and teaching styles.
