TheStrengthStop Provides Support for Young Victims of Assault

There are many difficult conversations in society that many people are uncomfortable talking about. One topic includes the young victims of assault. TheStrengthStop is an organization dedicated to opening up these conversations and provide a safe platform for victims seek emotional support.

Kristen Aguilar is the founder of TheStrengthStop. She is a 17-year-old from Toronto, Ontario, located in Canada. Kristen created this organization since she has always had a strong passion for fighting against

social inequity and raising awareness for sexual assault victims. Kristen was dedicated in creating TheStrengthStop after being informed of how many men and women were victims of sexual assault. "As a past victim of sexual assault, I wanted to provide all those in need with more accessible support and resources," Kristen said.

She has created a team to help her lead this organization. Tracy Nguyen is the Social Media Head for TheStrengthStop and is a part of the General Direction team. Merveille Massamba, Molly Chen, and Sophia Zheng are also part of the General Direction team. They all advocate for the youth, and hope to empower and unite the youth to further educate and motivate others to be in control of their energies. The General Direction team is in charge of keeping the organization's ambassadors on track, plan ongoing ideas and events, and manages their posting schedule. The team is extremely passionate about women empowerment and standing with all survivors of trauma.

TheStrengthStop have over twenty ambassadors located in Ontario, Canada. Many of their ambassadors have an engaging platform which they frequently use to promote the organization. Melissa Ventocilla, an ambassador for TheStrengthStop, is an International Prestigious Entertainment Network beauty and a proud winner of Miss Teenager 2019. With her large platform, she was able to help promote TheStrengthStop and their initiative. Ambassadors are responsible for managing the organization's social media presence and spread the word about any upcoming initiatives. They create a post at least once throughout the week.

The name of the organization, TheStrengthStop, derives from the message that healing is meant to be a stop in one's journey and not a final destination. The name is meant to emphasize the strength in pausing and taking time to heal oneself physically and emotionally.

The organization was officially launched on June 15, 2020. Within the short time they have launched, they have acquired so much engagement from their platforms. TheStrengthStop recently created a partnership with DearAsianYouth, a youth-led magazine aimed towards Asian activism. TheStrengthStop has also collaborated with VoicesBeyondAssault with the hashtag #NowLetsHeal. Through these collaborations, the organization was able to focus on the different aspects of the healing journey and expressed the true definition of learning how to heal.

The team's goal is to have TheStrengthStop become an even larger, more diverse, global centre of accessible resources for all men and women. They strive to reach a diverse set amount of people and offer their support in any way that we can. The organization also hopes to be known as a platform filled with reliable, clear, and educational facts. They plan to continue opening up difficult conversations in the community and strive for justice.
