Here at Build the Future, we try to feature young entrepreneurs and their businesses/organizations. Our goal is to give these young entrepreneurs a platform to gain awareness and connect readers with their business or organization. Similarly, with the same overall goal, Kid Everest is a crowdfunding platform that is safe for kid and teen entrepreneurs.
Kayla, Ashley, and Keagan are three sisters from New Hampshire that started Kid Everest, the world's first crowdfunding platform that is safe for kid entrepreneurs. Kayla is 14, and Keagan and Ashley are 12 year-old twins.
Kid Everest helps young entrepreneurs get the capital they need to start or continue to run their business. They help amplify these young voices and raise awareness of their ideas in a space typically held by adults. Young entrepreneurs can start a campaign on the platform's website where they ask for funding for their business. Friends, family, and investors donate to their campaign and help spread the word of these amazing kid owned businesses.
As a school project, the sisters became entrepreneurs and created their own business. They had a hard time fundraising for their business; they tried to go to local banks, FinTech centers, and even tried to start a campaign on KickStarter, but none of these places were successful. Many told them that they were too young and to try again when they were older and more serious. This initiated the thought of starting a platform for other kids that dealt with the same situation. They are passionate about defeating the stigma that children are unable to create businesses because of their age.
The platform's website was launched two years ago, however, they just launched their first project campaigns in March. They have worked in collaboration with several outlets such as INC Magazine, Dell Women's Empowerment Network, Kidpreneurs.org, and most recently, IFundWomen. Kid Everest continues to spread awareness of kid and teen-owned businesses through blog posts and features on our website. They have recently came in third place in the Boss Biz Academy and Idea Tank 4 Kids pitch competitions, are also onto the second round of the ELLE X Boss Babe Pitch Challenge for $15,000. Kid Everest will use their winnings from these competitions to help fund campaigns on our website. They have also been featured on several websites and newspapers.
The sisters are dedicated to making Kid Everest the premier stop for young entrepreneurs. They will continue to share young entrepreneurs' businesses and ideas for the foreseeable future, and want to help give every entrepreneur a chance to share their ideas with the world. Kid Everest will continue to grow their platform and user base, and even plan on integrating into classrooms and after-school programs as well as collaborating with local banks and credit unions to integrate the platform into their savings programs. Their mission is to give young entrepreneurs a voice in the entrepreneurial business space.
