Sometimes, school can get tough—especially when there is a pandemic going on. In the fall, many schools across the nation are planning to keep social distancing guidelines, which makes it harder to learn in school. Well, Alumnor Tutoring can help with this by giving children in elementary school a head start in their classes.
Alumnor Tutoring is a free online summer academic program to help prepare elementary schoolers with various topics for the upcoming school year. They hope to educate and help kids with their academic struggles through the guidance of volunteers. The organization provides practice for students to help sharpen their skills and ensure they have a grasp on the topic. The volunteers who are tutors are made up of intelligent and committed high school students from all over the country who determined to guide children to success. The organization offers their services for free, and their tutoring scheduling is very flexible.
Varshini Chinthareddy, Zarah Khondoker, and Amith Shetty are rising juniors from New Jersey. They are the founders of Alumnor Tutoring. The trio decided to create this organization since they previously have had tutoring which helped them a lot in school, and they wanted to give other children the same opportunity at no cost. They wanted to help children learn during these unfortunate times that the COVID-19 pandemic has put the world in. "Alumnor" in Latin actually means "educate", thus the name of the organization.

In a span of four weeks, Alumnor Tutoring has reached over 60 students to tutor with over 100 volunteers. These students and volunteers are from all around the world, which is a big accomplishment for the organization. In addition, Alumnor Tutoring's Instagram now has grown to have over 800 followers.
The organization plans on continuing through the end of the summer in August, and are still deciding on whether to keep it running during the school year. They still plan on reopening the organization next summer, and hopefully, every summer.
