Whether you're an athlete or just a clumsy person, it is very easy to get hurt. Icing an injury is an important step when healing. Meet Edie, an eighth grader from Texas. Edie thought of Pain Freeze, which consists of a reusable ice pack that has a disposable adhesive piece that allows the body to multitask while icing an injury.
The reusable ice pack and the adhesive piece are connected through velcro, which allows for a strong hold. The velcro allows the adhesive piece to be placed almost anywhere on the body, solving the problem in which ice packs slip off when moving around. Pain Freeze now enables one to move while wearing an ice pack.
Edie thought of this idea after being hurt many times due to being clumsy. She has experienced multiple times in which she needed to multitask while icing an injury, and so she created Pain Freeze in order to help other people be active even if they are hurt. Her motto is "Live your life, pain free." This promises customers that they will be able to heal an injury by icing with the ability to do other tasks at the same time.
With Edie's idea of Pain Freeze, she was able to win first place in the NFTE Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge for North Texas. In October, she will be advancing to the national competition in New York. Edie's goal is to develop a professional website that accepts all forms of payment in order for her to begin selling her product. She hopes to one day connect with large manufacturing and distributing companies such as Amazon, so that she can distribute her product faster and easier.
