The COVID-19 pandemic has dramatically changed our lives for the past few months. However, a young entrepreneur has found a solution to minimize the spread of the coronavirus.
Mauricio Cuba, a 14-year-old from Miami, Florida, has thought of the Mundus Shop. The Mundus Shop limits the interaction between people and the products.
As the numbers of COVID-19 cases grew in the United States, Mauricio decided to brainstorm a plausible solution that would fix the problem. He began analyzing the situation, looking at what exactly is happening at stores that put people in risk. He determined that it was the large number of people concentrated in one place as well as touching the same items everyday. Thinking of this, Mauricio realized a technological solution would not be as effective as a more socially active solution. He was able to think of the Mundus Shop, which would simply limit the number of people touching items.
With the Mundus Shop, there are only two instances when a product would be touched: putting it on and off the shelves. The Mundus Shop is a specialized computer that is put near the entrance of the shop (which is wiped after every customer), where customers can browse a variety of items to purchase. After paying with a credit/debit card, employees will retrieve the items and bring it to the customer at a safe distance. This system limits the chance of infection between customers and workers. This is also useful to those who do not have mobile devices or internet access in order to purchase an item online.
The meaning behind "Mundus Shop" is a latin translation of "Clean Shop". Although Mauricio had to somewhat adjust the translation, he was able to find an intricate name.
Mauricio Cuba has thought of multiple ideas while being a young entrepreneur, however, the Mundus Shop is the idea that he is most proud of.
