Founder & CEO Kierra Perkins

Kandles By Kierra started after making her father a candle for Father's Day. Kierra has always loved making arts and crafts, so this was the perfect time for her to create a project. When Kierra was only 11-years-old, she wanted to do something different for her father, so she made a "chocolate chip cookie and milk"candle that gained lots of positive responses on social media. With the motivation she gained from these comments, she decided to create her own candle business. Her website currently sells eight different candles and wax melts.

Kierra has gained lots of attention since starting her business two years ago. She has received several entrepreneurial awards such as Who's Who in Nashville from Bobby Jones Presents and the 2019 Entrepreneur On the Rise. This year, Kierra is nominated for the 2020 Entrepreneur On the Rise as well as the Distinguished Daughter award from the Woman Who Rock Nashville awards gala. Kierra has also been featured on all of the local news networks for being a successful youth entrepreneur.

Using her business as a platform, Kierra encourages kids to become entrepreneurs. She spoke to over 120 third graders at a local elementary school about entrepreneurship, and even wrote a book last month aimed at children to become entrepreneurs. Kierra's motto is "A young creative mind can grow a business and you don't have to wait until you're an adult to reach your goals."

Kierra's plan is to continue growing her business, as well as have a greater impact on the youth community on becoming young entrepreneurs. One day, she hopes to get her candles in major stores, or even open up her own store where she can sell her products.
